Monday Morning Update

Happy Presidents’ Day everyone! Temperatures will struggle to get out of the 30s today, but the good news is that we aren’t expecting any rain activity today! The biggest story this week continues to be the massive rain potential, as heavy rain is expected to move back into the area on Tuesday with additional waves of heavy rain through Sunday.

•The first wave of heavy rainfall moves in on Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday night. Looking over the latest data, it seems that two to three inches are possible with this first wave.

•Additional waves of heavy rain will affect the area Thursday through Sunday, where two to five inches of additional rainfall is possible. The latest weather train maps below give you an idea of where the axis of heaviest rain will fall, and just how much rain is expected over Kentucky and our area during the next seven days. I am expecting rainfall amounts between four and six inches to fall over the majority of our viewing area, which is very concerning from a flooding standpoint.

The National Weather Service will likely issue a Flood Watch later this afternoon as flooding will begin to become a significant concern in our area. A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding, especially in flood-prone areas. If you live in a flood-prone area, you need to monitor the latest forecast. I'll have another update this afternoon, have a great day!
